Another iPod Shortage?

Directly from the mouth of the Steve:

"We've taken our best guess, and we're building a lot, but the demand may be even larger," said Jobs, perched on a stool in trademark jeans and black mock-turtleneck shirt. "So if you want to be sure to get an iPod this holiday season, I'd get one soon."

After the iPod mini debacle that left tons of frustrated shoppers scrambling to find a mini in their preferred color for months after its initial release, you would think Apple would get better at forecasting this stuff. Of course, this has always been an issue at Apple, with both over and under estimates hurting sales and pushing back product releases.

Having witnessed the product shortages last year, I would believe the Steve and buy early. Of course, this is assuming that flash based ipod isn't coming out before the holidays. Oh, or that 60GB color ipod either. But we're not trying to scare you into buying out our current stock or anything. Sneaky Jobs, Sneaky.
